Nothing beats a delicious tasting nutritious smoothie! I’ve been a health addict ever since I got a little chunky in high school from my mom letting me buy whatever I wanted to at the grocery store. I didn’t want to have little man-boobs anymore so that’s when I began my health and nutrition journey.
Being a man, and having my mom buy me mostly all microwavable food at the grocery store, I never really learned how to cook very well. I would always end up wasting a ton of money on buying my own food. Since eating healthy in America is not cheap, I thought there has to be a better way to eat nutritiously, and not spend so much money! That’s when I found my love for smoothies!
I used to go to the smoothie shop right next to where I practiced martial arts, and would always spend anywhere from $7-$10 on a smoothie. At that time it wasn’t really a big deal because I absolutely loved the way smoothies tasted, and still do! Unfortunately, after going to martial arts class for a year and buying smoothies five to six times a week, it didn’t leave me with much money for anything else. That taught me a valuable lesson, and I decided to start making my own smoothies.
Smoothies have to be one of the easiest things in the world to make, and on top of that, to me, they’re the best tasting food with the most nutritional value anyone can find. I still remember the first smoothie I made, it was so simple. I would buy some chocolate whey protein and put peanut butter and bananas in the blender with ice and milk. Still one of my favorites to this day! Not only was I eating healthy but I was saving time and money too!
I have since started making many different types of smoothies, as well as I started following Pinterest boards with recommendations on how to create new and delicious tasting smoothies! I still make smoothies every day, but now I have an arsenal of smoothie recipes at my disposal. My new favorite smoothie is coconut banana smoothie. I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it’s one of the best tasting smoothies that I’ve tried. Maybe you won’t like it, but with the vast amount of ingredients you can choose from to make your own smoothie, I’m sure you can find a smoothie flavor that you will fall in love with.
Not only am I saving money from not buying at the store anymore, but now I’m eating healthy everyday, and I have a lot of different smoothie flavor combinations to choose from. If you’re not already making your own smoothies at home, I highly suggest adding a healthy dose of nutrition to your diet, and start making them at home daily.
